Driving in my car today, running around getting things for the wedding. I am in the process of making my escort card frames. I couldn’t find cool cheap frames, so I bought a frame with a picture already in it 😛 So I have to do some deconstruction I guess. Bought some spray paint, some grey/silver fabric and some cute pushpins in the shape of stars which I will spray paint white OR if I’m ambitious I will paint them orange.
The wedding, is 4 weeks and 2 days away! Whoa…
I’m very excited! Because it’s almost here and done. Now, that doesn’t mean I’m looking forward to it being over…the PLANNING part, I do want over. The wedding day and night, I know will last for only a moment, but I already know it’s going to be amazing. The other night in the car, I thought…wow, I’ve planned dinners and parties before, but not on this scale! That’s why it’s special. And I am going to enjoy it to the fullest.
Anyway, I digress. I love music. And this song, called Ditty, by Paperboy was playing in the car as I drove home. It brought back a memory of me as a young kid in Kalihi, my cousins were into skating and bmx bikes, but we had the whole of Jennie Street to roam. The song came out in 1993, when I was a freshman in high school, but the song brings me back to when I was way younger and my older male cousins had paper routes. Most times they would deliver them on their bikes.
And because I was the youngest, I was highly influenced by my older cousin’s because they had to watch us young’uns a lot. And since they had paper routes, me and my sister or my other female cousin, would hop in the van and help the guys with their early morning paper routes! And yes, my cousins would make us GIRLS roll up the papers and put a rubber band around it. We even got to throw the papers at people’s garages if they let us…LOL…oh the memories! Hey, I don’t think they ever gave us a cut of their wages!!
And speaking of BMX bikes and the 80’s…here’s another song that reminds me of those days…”Send Me An Angel” by Real Life. Oh my…and I even found a clip of the movie RAD with the song playing on youtube. Now this movie, Rad….my cousins watched over and over again…and why the heck did I end up watching it? Because the girls could watch only what the boys were watching! (hence why I remember movies like Porky’s…LOL…wow)
